The regatta for the soul and body was supposed to be sailed during a temporary cooling. The bora is likely in the morning, and there will be changes during the day, but what form it will take remains unknown. The bora may strengthen, and the tramontana or maestral may blow, with the proviso that it may be over a temporary calm. So anything can be expected. Half an hour before the planned start, a fierce gust of bora blew, so it was postponed for half an hour. The start was finally in a stronger bora, so there was chaos in which everyone tried to get through unscathed, which everyone managed with great effort. What is difficult for the crews is better for the photographers. An opportunity to take dynamic photos. Since the organizers did not have a single place for me on the accompanying boats, I only took photos from the waterfront.
However, I must mention that all Croatian photographers from all the regattas in Betina do not have as many printed copies as I do. That is why I was surprised by the lack of space. For those who don't know, in 2015 Croatia was the guest of honor in Morbihan, France, and the editors of Chasse Maree, a magazine specializing in traditional ships, took two of my photos along with several photos of the great Ivo Pervan as illustrations for an article about Croatian maritime heritage. That magazine is published in a circulation of 250,000 copies, and I had a double-page spread, a panorama from the Regatta for Soul and Body in Betina in 2014, and a photo of a falkuša in front of Palagruža. |
