For many years, the Zagreb Boat Fair was the first important event of the new season. Then came the
coronavirus and a few difficult years. Now we are trying to restore good customs. Since nothing works without good collaborators, we asked for support from the
Zagreb Fair and, as expected, we received it. We also offered interesting content and a touch of the Mediterranean in the middle of winter. Given the winter storm,
it is better to talk about the Mediterranean in the Zagreb winter, it is warmer. The only sails at the entire boat fair are those on two beautiful small wooden boats.
The best way to restore good customs is to present some news because "life goes on".
An association from Malinska on the island of Krk started working just before the coronavirus and used the time of limited activities to arrange the necessary
infrastructure. Their local specialty is the use of oak wood. They made two major products important to Mediterranean life from it, wooden boats and wooden barrels.
The local authorities built a multifunctional presentation center in the best position in the city, and right next to it they designated a part of the port
exclusively for traditional vessels.
As everything in the warm passage between pavilions 10A and 11A exudes tradition, it is also a
tradition for someone from the maritime tradition organization to sing at the opening ceremony. Sisters Neda and Sanja Parmaæ are originally from the Neretva
Valley and were very happy to respond to the request of the Neretva Rowers' Association. The spirit of the Mediterranean is always a great refreshment. Also,
in "our pavilion" organized by Garmin Croatia, a film by skier Ivica Kosteliæ about sailing in a transatlantic regatta was presented. The extremely
interesting and excellently made video exceeded all expectations from the otherwise versatile Ivica Kosteliæ. His story also complemented the film, which is
worth watching.
