From the manifestation on the occasion of the 2400 years of the Stari Grad on Hvar, in a few steps, a sea festival similar to the events in Brest, Morbihan or Sete was created. The two-year rhythm of events is also a specificity of large festivals. The other numbers are much more modest but the format and content are similar and the sailor's heart the same. Sailors come with ships so they talk and sing about the sea and life by the sea. There will be other topics, as well as good food.
The first meeting with the festival is in the port of Split, where we meet dear friends in front of the ferry to Stari Grad, so the two-hour sailing passes quickly. In the Stari Grad, the picture is already much richer. Ships and people from all over the Adriatic. We look for friends first, and then we look at what's new.

After the parade and presentation of the participants, which is a nice custom, a show sailing followed. I would like to emphasize that several times I have had the opportunity to see the reaction of people when they first sail, when they first feel the invisible force of the wind that pulls the ship in silence. That is why I would like to have as many guests as possible on such voyages. When people experience sailing, they will surely share their unique experience through the winter months with friends and want to repeat the experience together. Believe me, this is a better promotion than a TV show lasting 10-20 seconds. Reputation takes a long time to build but remains for the future. |

A regatta of all boats and an evening sailing under the lights with music are planned for the last day. As the bay of Stari Grad is not exactly for competitive sailing, the regatta was more of a show character, which I personally like more because I would like guests to board the boats. Many of these ships sail faster than with engines.
The best part of the festival in Bay was the participants themselves. Brudeti at Neretva, food and drink with Pepe Kalafot from Komiža at the stand of the Coordination of Kvarner and Istria, then the stand of the Palagruža association with sardines, wine and song, crews from Šepurina who encouraged many singers to sing for hours. They were the center of events on the waterfront. |

Sailing under the lights has an awkward situation that we compare it with the extremely successful first performance in 2016 on the occasion of the 2400th anniversary of the founding of Stari Grad. That's right and there's no help there until an even better performance happens. This year, despite an excellent selection of music, the lights didn't look as impressive as the first time they were a big and pleasant surprise.
