It will not be possible to talk about Latin Idra for a long time without mentioning Željko Jerat. On that sad day almost half a year ago, when we met when we met at his funeral in Murter, we promised each other that we would do everything to make the Latin Sail successful this year. So we wanted to show respect to him. Our promise would not have been enough if his successors in the Association had not decided the same. They accepted a job that seemed impossible. The first conversations during the regatta season showed their unwavering determination. The first announcement of the program showed great ambitions. All that was announced and promised until then, which is a very good sign. Everyone who could, at least it seems to me, did what was asked of them, and even more.
At the finish of the Latin Sail Days on friday, an evening was organized "at my grandmother's", similar to last year's hit among new programs. A kitchen has been installed on the old waterfront in Murter. Tables, chairs, benches, people, songs, conversations celebrating the sea and the joy of life. Along with them on the boat Branimir klapa Bunari sang. Something indescribable because nothing special was happening. Just life as it used to be in the center of the house, in the kitchen.

The usual afternoon sailing in Betina and the joint dinner of the arrived participants and guests is an opportunity to talk about plans, ideas and initiatives. We remember past Latin sail regattas in the hope that there will be enough wind at least for the start attraction as the forecast speaks of light winds.

On Sunday, everything is in a hurry in preparation for the 22nd Latin Sail. Fortunately, the forecast is not very accurate and for the start there was a good wind for a nice sailing. The full planned route to the shallows near Mala Arta was sailing, and the crowds at the turn gave the necessary adrenaline rush. In their separate worlds on the same navigable field and at the same time the favorites fought, tourists sailed in crowded ships and enthusiasts overcame the good wind. |

In a large number of vessels an individual is lost, but ... In a large number of vessels large and powerful are lost as well as small ones and each crew becomes aware of its uniqueness and its contribution to a common idea and desire and common hope for successful preservation of our maritime tradition. For now, we are succeeding and we think we are all progressing together, and that fills us with pride.

The Latin Sail has successfully passed the most difficult year. Friends came from all over. 83 ships sailed. In the shadow of the great Željko Jerat, the largest Latin Sail Days were realized in terms of the number of participants and the scope of the program. The event turned out to have solid roots and a future. Just as Željko would like.
