BURTIZ - LATEEN SAIL
tradition represented by the lateen sail

Hvar pulena fest - Hvar 19.6.2013.

The third Forska Pulena fest started with a photo exhibition by Boško Lučev, titled Traditional Boats Regatas. After a long period of time, the arsenal was open for visitors. The evening program consisted of singing, dancing and lectures.

In the morning all the boats sailed to Palmižana, along with the children from the sailing school. Almost a dozen of them arrived at the port in Hvar. They created the atmosphere of the old times of traditional sails, when the city was at the top of it's maritime power and many sailors.

With the four boats from Hvar and two boats from Vrboska, there were three murter betinian leuts, two from Vela Luka and one from Bakar. There was a critical analysis of traditional events and related groups on Palmižana. I would just like to mention the lecture professor Panella held in 2011 in Murter about reviving the tradition.

To support the discussion we even brought a round table.

After returning we started preparing for tonight's spectacle.

Sailing at night under the lights of the reflectors turned out to be a big attraction.

In the morning before our departure we were joined by a boat from Omiš. We'll sail together towards Komiža and Palagruža. We look back and see once more how beautiful Hvar looks with all the traditional boats and sails.

Our friends from Hvar escorted us to Pakleni Otoci.
